13-year-old arrested for threatening Tuscaloosa Middle School

A 13-year-old girl was arrested and charged with a felony after allegedly posting on social media threatening a middle school in Tuscaloosa.

Stephanie Taylor, a spokeswoman for the Tuscaloosa Police Department, said parents were extremely concerned about a social media post threatening violence against students at Eastwood Middle School.

Taylor said the TPD's Criminal Investigation Division and Cyber ​​Intelligence Division worked together after the post was widely shared on Facebook on Friday and identified its author, reportedly a 13-year-old girl.

The teenager was questioned on Saturday and eventually arrested and charged with MaKing terrorist threats, a crime.

Taylor said the department received many calls from parents about the post on Friday, and the threat prompted additional security measures at the school.
