Hall charged with stabbing

FLEMINGSBURG – Billy Hall has been charged in connection with a stabbing incident in July.

He was charged with attempted murder of a peace officer and first-degree assault.

According to the indictment, Hall “intentionally stabbed Deputy Dustin Cooper of the Fleming County Sheriff's Department in the left arm/bicep with a knife with the intent to cause the death of Deputy Dustin Cooper.”

The indictment also states that Hall inflicted serious bodily injury on Cooper through first-degree assault.

“Using a deadly weapon or dangerous object, namely a knife, or under circumstances demonstrating utter indifference to the value of human life, he willfully conducted himself in a manner that created a serious risk of death to Deputy Dustin Cooper and thereby caused serious bodily injury to Deputy Dustin Cooper,” the indictment states.

In July, the Fleming County Sheriff's Department and EMS responded to Hall's residence for a medical issue.

Hall was taken to Fleming County Hospital and allegedly attacked Cooper with a knife that he hid during transport.

According to Fleming County Sheriff Tim Smith, “He was stabbed and his arm was slashed from … approximately … the shoulder to the bicep, approximately nine inches long.”

Cooper handcuffed Hall, attached a tourniquet to his arm, and was cared for by FC Hospital staff before being transferred to the University of Kentucky Hospital.

Cooper was later released from the hospital.

With the indictment, an arrest warrant and bail in the amount of $250,000 were signed.
