Bournemouth vs Chelsea: Premier League – live | Premier League

Important events

I should have asked this then, but what the hell was Nkunku doing with this celebration?

I'll tell you what he did: He took out a balloon, blew it up, kept the inflated balloon in his mouth, tilted his head back and raised both arms.

It was funny. And I don't want to sound like a twerp, but also tasteless. I hate seeing children all over London blowing up balloons and I'm not sure that's a good message. Am I a grumpy old man who's just lost touch with reality? Or does anyone agree with me?

Our regular guest tonight, Matt Muir, gave a short farewell speech:

“Sancho and Tosin were positive and it's nice to win but it's no fun to watch. Bournemouth deserve credit because they may rightly feel they deserved at least a point but it feels weird playing Ultimate Team with a mad ideologue's version of pep-light football that nobody has won anything with for a decade.”

Tough but fair, as always, Matt. Cheers, mate. Enjoy the win, even if it was chaotic.

Nate Elliot is unhappy with the refereeing in this game.

“If the league can punish a club for not controlling its players, can it also punish the PGMOL for not controlling its referees?”

You know, I'm not sure I agree with that. I think it's great that players who questioned decisions were cautioned. I think that's the only way to prevent referees from being abused. Maybe there were a few easy decisions, but no mistakes from what I saw.

Final whistle! Bournemouth – Chelsea 0:1

The Blues get it! Did they deserve it? I'm not sure. But you don't always get what you deserve. Bournemouth hit the post twice in a game that broke the Premier League record for most yellow cards – a whopping 14 for the players and one for Bournemouth's manager. But the only thing that matters is the result. A clean sheet and some good substitutions. Chelsea got the job done.

90.+6 mins: Sancho is rightly named man of the match. His assist turned the game around and he shone on the left flank throughout the second half.

share

90.+6 mins: There is still time for Semenyo to receive a booking, the 14th for a player and the 15th overall.

share

90.+6 mins: Sanchez makes another great save! Ünal turns to get the ball and suddenly the whole game opens up in front of him. He looks up, realises he has time and space to shoot and lets go. The ball goes towards the bottom corner but Sanchez stops it.

share

90+5 minutes: Excellent from Sanchez, who came out with power and won the corner. Bournemouth really only have one chance now.

share

90.+3 minutes: The Chelsea fans have found their voice. But they fall silent when the ball is lost and Bournemouth can launch an attack, perhaps for the last time. Chelsea do well, Fofana wins the ball back on halfway. But Bournemouth come back. Now it's fast-paced. Billing gets to the byline, shoots back a dangerous cross, but Colwill gets in the way with his body. The ball could have been deflected towards goal. Instead there's a corner.

14 yellow cards – Premier League record

It wasn't the best game, but it goes into the record books! Amazingly, we haven't had a single red yet. There's still time.

share

90 minutes: Chelsea have the ball in Bournemouth territory and instead of charging towards goal they keep possession. They know they have been second best for most of the night. What a win that would be. Six minutes of extra time are added on.

Felix gets a yellow card for a last minute foul on halfway and I think that could be a Premier League record. I'll confirm it as soon as possible.

share

89th minute: Sanchez rushes out of his goal area to avoid the threat of a forward free kick. Semenyo gets the ball after Bournemouth win it back, however, and shoots from Chelsea's box. Colwill blocks and celebrates. OK, OK. That was a first-class defense.

share

88th minute: Veiga gets a yellow card for cheering in the crowd. What an amazing game! That's the seventh Chelsea player to see a yellow card.

GOAL! Bournemouth – Chelsea 0-1 (Nkunku, 86.)

Did he win it as a substitute? Of course, it's not over yet, but that will probably be the winning goal. Sancho makes the difference again. With a precise cross from the left flank, Nkunku turns in the box and is lucky when the ball bounces off the two defenders covering him. He falls as he shoots and manages to fire the ball into the net at the far post.

85 minutes: Sinisterra receives the ball in a wide left position, charges towards the box, moves back upfield, overpowers two defenders and fires with full force. The shot is blocked but it looked dangerous for a moment. Bournemouth know they can score late goals. This is not over yet.

share

83rd minute: Tavernier, who played a great game and made the goalposts shake in the first half, makes way for Ünal.

share

81st minute: I'm shocked there isn't another card. Cucurella rammed Scott from behind as Bournemouth were about to launch a quick counterattack into Chelsea territory. It was a cynical foul. The fact that he was already booked probably saved him.

share

80 minutes: Senesi gets the yellow card. Fair play actually. He collided with Felix and knocked him over from behind.

share

79th minute: Jackson makes way for Nkunku. I have to admit, I had forgotten that Jackson was on the field. He became practically redundant when Felix came on the scene.

share

78th minute: Felix brings down a long ball with ice in the Bournemouth box. What a great touch. But it wasn't quite perfect as it took him away from goal. He tried to play a backheel pass for the onrushing support but he couldn't manage it.

share

76th minute: Nice work from Bournemouth, who complete their first move in what feels like forever. Billing with some nice touches on the right but it's offside. Bournemouth have taken the hits. Now it's their turn to attack. Billing drives past a defender and is knocked over on the way to the byline. But no foul. Goal kick for Chelsea.

share

74th minute: Sancho shifts into a higher gear. Everything that works for Chelsea comes down that left flank. Now Bournemouth have two men to mark him. Meanwhile, the home side make some substitutions. Kluivert and Smith (who must be exhausted with marking Neto and then Sancho) make way for Billing and Araujo.

share

“Hi Dan, has the ref already given the crowd a card for making too much noise? He clearly wants a yellow card.”

Not yet, Philipp Haran.

72nd minute: Felix starts to stumble and Bournemouth counterattack. Until Veiga stretches out a long leg and makes a brilliant tackle in midfield. Then he charges, beats one, beats another and finds himself in the Bournemouth penalty area. But he can't get a shot off. Chelsea grow. Palmer and Cucurella start to drift towards the Sancho-Felix axis that is causing much joy on the left.

share

71st minute: Sancho and Felix combine again. However, Felix can't get through as he finds himself on the left byline. His cross is deflected but then back off his own leg, so it's a goal kick for Bournemouth.

share

70 minutes: Sancho – Chelsea's best player since coming on – initiates a tunnel move down the left. Delicious. But once again a lack of cohesion lets the Blues down. Just not enough players on the same wavelength. Bournemouth are able to hit back and take the ball away.

share

68th minute: It's a sharp corner but Travers clears it away. Substitutions for Bournemouth. Christie and Evanilson make way for Scott and Sinisterra.

share

66 minutes: They were poor with the ball, but Chelsea did well without it at times. Caicedo intercepts Christie's ball outside the box and Chelsea launches a counterattack. Felix carries it, finds Sancho and wins it back with a spectacular shot. Chelsea keeps it and Sancho slides Cucurella into the overlap on the left. The return pass from the byline just finds Jackson, who turns, falls and shoots. The deflection attempt goes wide and we have a corner for Chelsea.

share

65 minutes: Palmer, now on the right, feints and jumps but doesn't make any progress, so he passes the ball to Caicedo. Chelsea work their way through the lines. Felix is on the ball. Caicedo gets it in midfield, looks up, sees nothing and thinks he's going to hit it from a mile away. It's blocked and Bournemouth shoot it wide.

share

63 minutes: It was chaotic but Bournemouth need to score. Chelsea have the quality to win. They didn't deserve the draw. Kluivert makes the 'calm down' gesture to his teammates.

share

61st minute: A few changes at Chelsea. Madueke and Disasi out. Felix and Tosin in. Palmer will move to the right, I think.

share

60 minutes: Kluivert receives a yellow card for bringing down Madueke who had beaten him on the wing. 10 cards in the match for the players, one for the manager.

share

59th minute: Christie hits the post! He ran at a loose ball bouncing around the edge of the Chelsea box and managed to keep it on the ground. It deflected off a Chelsea defender and trickled onto the post and out of play. Chelsea hold on here.

58th minute: A bit of variety on the free kick. Tavernier looks to shoot but instead rolls the ball along the front of the Chelsea wall and Semenyo runs towards it and hits it first time with the side of his foot. But the ball goes high and wide.
