Report: Illinois woman allegedly fights elementary school principal after dropping packets of cocaine

A woman was arrested in Illinois after allegedly arguing with an elementary school principal who told her during a meeting that police would be called because she had dropped bags of cocaine, reports say.

The incident involving Shakeda Barfield occurred Wednesday morning at Welsh Elementary School in Rockford, according to WIFR.

Citing police, the station says Barfield was at the school for a meeting with the principal when she allegedly dropped bags of suspected cocaine. When the principal picked up the bags, Barfield reportedly became upset when she was told police were being called to the scene.

The 33-year-old is accused of punching the principal in the face several times, scratching his face and arms, biting him and strangling him with his tie, WIFR reports.

According to media reports, she is now accused of drug possession, serious bodily harm to a school employee and disorderly conduct, among other things.

According to records, Barfield has been held without bail in the Winnebago County Jail since Saturday.

It is not immediately clear what this meeting was about.

As the fight unfolded, the school was temporarily locked down, according to WIFR.

The school principal reportedly suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the incident.
