Sancho has been “perfect” since joining the club – Maresca

Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca was pleased with the “perfect” new signing Jadon Sancho.

The English international joined the Blues on loan from Manchester United, with the contract including an obligation to buy next summer.

“I don't consider Jadon a risk,” said Maresca. “He is a player who can help us. Whatever happened to Erik [ten Hag]I have no idea. I can only judge the player based on the weeks he was with us. He was perfect.”

Sancho fell out with United head coach Ten Hag last season and had to train away from the first team before returning to Borussia Dortmund on loan in January.

“With Jadon and Joao [Felix] when they joined the club, I spoke to them. One of my messages to them is: if you come here and don't work properly, you won't play. Even before they arrived, the message was clear to them,” said Maresca.

“If they perform well during the week, they have a chance; if they don't train properly, they don't play.”

“The only way to achieve the best for the team is to give a chance to the players who work really hard and deserve it.”

“Jadon has been working well since his arrival and can help us with his style of play.”

After training at Chelsea's Cobham training complex during the international break, Sancho could be hoping to face Bournemouth on Saturday.

“The reason we have Jadon here is because I love him, otherwise he wouldn't be here.

“We need more precision, more quality and passion – that’s the kind of player he is.”
