Alcohol involved in fatal crash on Highway 52 – ABC 6 News

(ABC 6 News) – One person was killed and two injured in a three-vehicle crash on Highway 52 early Saturday morning.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, it happened at 1:12 a.m. in Pine Island.

The crash report states that 35-year-old Simona Vera of San Diego, California, was traveling north in the southbound lanes of Highway 52 when she collided with two other southbound vehicles.

Vera was taken to Saint Marys with life-threatening injuries. MSP believes alcohol played a role.

Marisa Johnson, 25, of Rochester was also taken to Saint Marys with non-life-threatening injuries.

A 60-year-old woman from Rochester was also involved in the accident. Her name and the extent of her injuries have not yet been released, but MSP states it was a fatal accident.

The Goodhue County Sheriff's Office, Zumbrota Police Department, Cannon Falls Fire Department, Zumbrota Police Department and EMS responded to the scene.

MSP is expected to release further information about the 60-year-old driver at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
