Nebraska Football's Dylan Raiola is ranked among the top 25 college football quarterbacks

Dylan Raiola's star continues to gain national attention and more media recognition.

A week after being named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, Raiola was also named in Bleacher Report's Top 25 College Football Quarterbacks rankings released Tuesday. The first-year signal caller was ranked No. 22.

The running list is updated weekly, as Raiola was not mentioned in the preseason but earned honorable mention after his performance in week one against UTEP. After the Nebraska football team defeated Colorado 28-10 in week two, the freshman jumped into the top 25 at No. 22.

Raiola is ranked ahead of several notable quarterbacks nationally, including Luke Altmeyer (Illinois), Hudson Card (Purdue), Will Howard (Ohio State), Athan Kaliakmanis (Rutgers) and Kurtis Rourke (Indiana) from the Big Ten. With the win over CU, Raiola moves ahead of his week two opponent, Shedeur Sanders, who was ranked 24th.

The rankings added some thoughts on the freshman quarterback:

“Raiola completed 23 of 30 passes for 185 yards and a touchdown, outperforming Shedeur Sanders in a 28-10 win over Colorado. Now Nebraska is ranked 23rd in the latest AP poll. The Cornhuskers are taking it slow, as evidenced by his mediocre 7.4 yards per attempt, but he has looked good as a true freshman starter the past two weeks.”

Not only did Nebraska make it into the top 25 of the AP poll thanks to Raiola's play, the Huskers are also ranked 24th in the latest USA Today Coaches Poll. The Big Red have yet to throw an interception this season, and Raiola has yet to cause a turnover in 2024.

Raiola's statistics lag behind those of other quarterbacks in the top 25, including fellow Big Ten starters Miller Moss (USC, No. 18), Drew Allar (Penn State, No. 17), Will Rogers (Washington, No. 13) and Dillon Gabriel (Oregon, No. 7).

Raiola will look to improve his statistics on Saturday when Nebraska hosts Northern Illinois at 6:30 p.m. CDT at Memorial Stadium.
