Georgia vs Kentucky live stream, where to watch, TV channel, prediction, picks, spread, football match odds

Goliath No. 1 Georgia enters conference play on Saturday against a Kentucky team reeling from one of its worst and most inexplicable losses of the Mark Stoops era. Georgia is a heavy favorite on the road. What could go wrong?

The Wildcats (1-1, 0-1 SEC) are fresh off a 31-6 loss to South Carolina. The offense was abysmal, with the quarterbacks throwing two interceptions and being sacked four times. Yes, quarterbackS is plural. Georgia transfer Brock Vandagriff was harassed all game and did little to move the team forward. He threw for just 30 yards on 3 of 10 passes before being benched in the fourth quarter in favor of backup Gavin Wimsatt. Vandagriff is expected to face his former team on Saturday, making for quite the reunion in Lexington.

Meanwhile, Georgia (2-0) is on a roll. Last week, Carson Beck threw five touchdown passes in a 48-3 win over FCS Tennessee Tech. The defense allowed just 18 passing yards, the third-fewest this century. Kentucky will need a lot to beat the Bulldogs, who have won 14 straight against the Wildcats – their longest active winning streak against an SEC team. The Bulldogs beat Kentucky 51-13 in Athens last season.

No. 1 Georgia vs. Kentucky: What you need to know

Brock Vandagriff meets his former team: Brock Vandagriff was billed as Kentucky's savior after an experiment with NC State transfer Devin Leary failed last season, but he hasn't looked like that over the past two games. Kentucky managed just 44 passing yards in its loss to South Carolina last week, the team's fewest since a win over Louisville in 2019 when it threw for just 4 yards. Vandagriff was sacked four times and played with a shoulder injury he suffered in Week 1 when he threw for 169 yards and three touchdowns with one interception in a 31-0 win over Southern Miss. Kentucky coach Mark Stoops said the difficulties were “not just Brock's fault. We didn't even give him a chance half the time, let's be honest.” With the added pressure of facing Georgia, where he played behind starter Carson Beck last season, it will be interesting to see how he responds in Week 3.

Kentucky’s solid SEC starts in jeopardy: As inconsistent as a season can be for Kentucky, the Wildcats haven't started a season 0-2 in the SEC since 2000. Mark Stoops has been the epitome of consistency, but beating Georgia seems like too much to ask. The Wildcats have won three of their last six games against ranked teams at Kroger Field.

Georgia prepares for the race: Kentucky isn't necessarily a great running team, but the Wildcats can force it. Last week, they called 18 straight running plays in their loss to South Carolina. The Wildcats finished the game with 139 yards rushing and averaged just 2.9 yards per carry.

“[Stoops] has the toughness of a worker, physicality and a mentality to win the line of scrimmage and that carries over to his offense,” Georgia's Kirby Smart said. “We've always said that was the most physical game we've played in years, especially when we played up there.”

No. 1 Georgia vs. Kentucky Prediction, Tips

The prospect of facing Georgia's defense is daunting. Kentucky collapsed against South Carolina last week, managing just 183 yards and allowing five sacks and 11 tackles for loss. You get the feeling Vandagriff will have nightmares after facing his former team on Saturday. Georgia's longest winning streak against an SEC team is Kentucky, which has lost 14 straight games to the Bulldogs. The average win differential: 19 points. Selection: Georgia -24
