Horrifying video shows murder suspect Laken Riley “committing an evil act” moments after the brutal murder of a Georgia nursing student

Surveillance camera footage shows the suspected killer of Georgia nursing student Laken Riley throwing a blood-stained jacket and gloves into a dumpster shortly after her murder, prosecutors claim.

Jose Ibarra, a 26-year-old undocumented immigrant from Venezuela, is charged with murder, aggravated assault, kidnapping and other crimes in connection with the killing of the 22-year-old in February.

Last month, his lawyers requested a hearing to suppress a list of evidence that police unlawfully entered his home, Fox News reported.

Prosecutors responded that they were afraid that people in Ibarra's apartment would destroy evidence and that they had video of a man dumping bloody clothing outside the complex.

'[The video] “The video shows a Latino man discarding a bloody jacket with long dark hair on it and bloody gloves less than 30 minutes after Laken Riley was murdered and within a half-mile of her body,” the indictment said.

“The video from the dumpster also shows that the Latino man was wearing a black baseball cap with a white Adidas logo, white writing under the logo and a sticker on the brim of the cap.”

Nearly 12 hours later, an Athens-Clarke County Sheriff's Office sergeant patrolling Ibarra's apartment complex “saw, in full view of everyone, a Latino man wearing the 'identical' hat seen in the video with the dumpster.”

The man in the hat posed as Diego Ibarra, Jose Ibarra's older brother, and allegedly gave police a fake green card.

Prosecutors said they had footage of a man dumping bloody clothing outside Ibarra's apartment complex 30 minutes after Riley's murder.

'[At that point] “There was reasonable suspicion that there might be evidence of the murder in the apartment, and they determined that the apartment needed to be secured as a matter of urgency pending the issuance of a search warrant for fear of destroying further evidence,” prosecutors wrote in court documents seen by Fox News.

“This decision was reasonable and does not violate the Fourth Amendment.”

Riley's body was found near running trails on February 22 after a friend told police she had not returned from a morning run. Police said her killing appeared to be a random attack.

Ibarra is accused of hitting the Augusta University College of Nursing student on the head, choking her and pulling up her clothing to rape her.

The indictment charges Ibarra with one count of premeditated murder, three counts of first-degree murder and one count each of kidnapping, aggravated assault, obstructing an emergency call, tampering with evidence and being a voyeur.

Riley's killing immediately became a flashpoint in the national immigration debate because Ibarra, a native of Venezuela, entered the United States illegally in 2022 and was allowed to stay to pursue his immigration case.

Republicans, including former President Donald Trump, blamed President Joe Biden and his border policies for Riley's death.
