Game 2 at Coors Field

CUBS LINEUP – Check out the Chicago Cubs lineup for the second of three games against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.

Chicago Cubs lineup:

  1. Ian Happ, LF
  2. Dansby Swanson, SS
  3. Seiya Suzuki, DH
  4. Cody Bellinger, RF
  5. Isaac Paredes, 3B
  6. Patrick Wisdom, 1B
  7. Nico Hoerner, 2B
  8. Pete Crow-Armstrong, CF
  9. Christian Bethancourt, C

Although right-handers have been devastating Kyle Freeland this year (and throughout his career), one Cubs left-hander has had a particularly strong career against him:

Cody Bellinger: 10-29, five 2Bs, 2 BBs, 2Ks

This is no surprise, as Bellinger handles the left-handed position quite well for a left-handed player. Dansby Swanson was also more than successful against Freeland, with 10 hits in 21 at-bats, a double, a triple, a home run, a walk and only two strikeouts.

Colorado Rockies lineup:

  1. Charlie Blackmon, DH
  2. Ezequiel Tovar, SS
  3. Brenton Doyle, CF
  4. Ryan McMahon, 3B
  5. Michael Toglia,
  6. Jake Cave, RF
  7. Hunter Goodman, C
  8. Jordan Beck, LF
  9. Aaron Schunk, 2B

Pitching duel:

Chicago Cubs: Jameson Taillon, RHP

Jameson Taillon has two consecutive, quality starts against the Yankees and Pirates (combined): 13.0 IP, 9H, 1ER, 2BB, 9K. And that's good to see, as he's had at least four earned runs in four games in a row. As with pretty much everyone from now on, the goal is simple: finish the season strong and healthy to gain confidence for next season.

Colorado Rockies: Kyle Freeland, LHP

Kyle Freeland's overall season numbers aren't great, but his last four games have been excellent: 23.2 IP, 5ER (1.90 ERA), 47.3% ground ball rate, 17Ks, 3 walks, .220 AVG. He's allowed an average barrel rate and a bit more hard contact than most, but in general he's been pretty effective. Right-handed hitters, however, have been a struggle for him all season and his entire career.
