Man charged with stalking and harassing UConn staff: police

MANSFIELD, CT — A Washington state man is facing charges after police say he sent harassing emails and stalked University of Connecticut employees and several other people across the United States.

Robert Cole Parmalee, 40, of Ritzfield, Washington, was arrested by UConn police on Friday and charged with second-degree harassment, stalking and disturbing the peace, several months after he began sending emails to UConn employees, police said in a news release.

According to authorities, a UConn employee first reported receiving several emails from Parmalee in June. The emails were related to a specific UConn student-athlete and players from other college sports programs, police said.

At the time, police said the emails did not justify charges against Parmalee.

According to authorities, UConn employees, as well as dozens of people across the United States who had no connection to UConn, continued to receive emails from Parmalee, which they passed on to police.

The authorities did not provide any details about the exact content of the emails.

On August 27, Parmalee was arrested in Windsor Locks on an Oregon warrant. Authorities in Oregon attempted to have the charges against Parmalee dropped, but UConn police issued a new warrant and Parmalee was arrested again on Friday.

Parmalee is being held on $100,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in Rockville Superior Court on Monday.
