Four suspects are being sought in connection with an incident in which shots were fired at an occupied vehicle in Westminster on Thursday afternoon, resulting in multiple crashes and a lengthy road closure.

According to WPD Commander Andy Stowers, the incident occurred before 3:45 p.m. at the intersection of Bolsa Avenue and Brookhurst Street.

When officers arrived, they found an abandoned car with multiple bullet holes. Witnesses said the vehicle had three occupants who left the scene on foot.

They were found by police and none of them were injured. The investigation revealed that the victim's vehicle was traveling north on Brookhurst and stopped at a red light in Bolsa.

Two suspects then exited other stopped vehicles and approached the victim's vehicle from behind. One of the suspects shot the car five to six times, causing the driver of that vehicle to drive away to escape the gunfire.

This resulted in collisions with “numerous” other vehicles. The victims ran out of their cars while the suspects drove away in their vehicle.

The incident led to the intersection being closed for a long time. The suspects are described as four men, two of them aged between 18 and 25 and two of unknown age.

Anyone with information about the incident – which is believed to be a gang-related incident – is asked to call Detective Burton at (714) 548-3840 or the WPD Watch Commander at (714) 548-3767.
