TCU Football: UCF Halftime Update

The TCU Horned Frogs won the coin toss and decided to postpone the game until the second half so that fans could see the Horned Frogs defense on the field at the start of the game. The Frogs forced a three-and-out and brought themselves back into the lead after a nice punt return from J.P. Richardson.

The Horned Frogs’ offense marched methodically across the field and scored interim gains before Josh Hoover would go into the pocket and throw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Eric McAlister set up the frogs 7:0, 9:38 minutes before the end of the first quarter.

UCF tried to respond and used KJ Jefferson's legs to force the field. The Horned Frogs defense held firm and forced the Knights to attempt a field goal. Caleb Fox blocked the attempt and kept the score at Five and a half minutes before the end of the first quarter the score is 7-0.

The Frogs again moved all over the field and Hoover showed his composure in the pocket by firing strikes on third downs to keep the chains moving. Hoover found his favorite target, Savion Williamswho would make a contested catch in double coverage for an 18-yard touchdown. TCU builds its lead 14:0, 3:18 minutes before the end of the first quarter.

The Knights responded and on the first play of the second quarter, KJ Jefferson RJ Harvey for a 29-yard touchdown and made the score TCU 14 UCF 7 with 14:52 to play at halftime.

The Frogs continued as they had all night and stormed the field again. Hoover found Savion Williams for his second touchdown with an over-the-shoulder throw that required the receiver to twist his body. TCU leads 21-7 with 10:10 minutes left until halftime.

The Frogs and Knights traded punts on a few drives, with both teams trying to out-physically out-punch each other and exchange hard hits. UCF went on a six-minute drive and tried to make it a two-possession game, but the TCU defense blocked their second kick of the game and the score remained 21:7, one second before the end of the half.
