“It wasn’t a Lucas film”: The Harrison Ford film that George Lucas made before Star Wars traumatized him so much that he secretly distanced himself from it

Filmmaker and philanthropist George Lucas never hesitated to amaze his fans with his vision and create works that exceeded everyone else's wildest imagination. This of course includes his Star Wars saga, which was originally doomed to failure before becoming the runaway success and multi-billion dollar franchise it is today.

But while SW was one of the projects he collaborated on with legendary actor Harrison Ford, the two worked on another film before Lucas realized his vision for the science fiction saga: the 1973 comedy musical American Graffiti. And although that film was a smash hit with critics, it still managed to traumatize the director so much that he secretly distanced himself from it.
