At about 5:20 a.m., authorities responded to a 911 call from a man near Greenville who said he and a woman had been shot in a home.

The man was taken to a Texas hospital for treatment of his gunshot wounds, while the woman was found dead at the scene. Investigators managed to access a surveillance system that showed a person firing five shots at the home, according to the sheriff's office.

On Tuesday, sheriff's office officials informed the public that there was no active threat to the surrounding community.

“That's what I meant and that's what I still mean. This crime was premeditated. The victims in this case were targeted and the shooting was an isolated incident. In this case, I was and am confident that there was and is no threat to the public,” said Love County Sheriff Andy Cumberledge.

Cumberledge said the investigation is ongoing and there will be updates “as the case continues to develop.”
