Car crash at Sam's Inn in Warwick, Rhode Island, gas line bursts – NBC Boston

On Saturday afternoon, a car collided with several vehicles, pushing them into the back of a restaurant in Warwick, Rhode Island, causing a gas line to burst.

Warwick police responded to the reported incident at around 2:40 p.m. at Sam's Inn, 2227 West Shore Road, NBC10's Boston affiliate WJAR reports.

According to WJAR, police said a 24-year-old woman was driving a Lexus when she collided with an occupied vehicle outside a Shell gas station on West Shore Road. She then collided with an unoccupied vehicle in the gas station parking lot and then drove into the Sam's Inn parking lot.

According to police, the Lexus then collided with two other unoccupied vehicles before colliding with the restaurant's refrigeration unit.

According to police, the other drivers did not suffer any significant injuries. The Lexus driver was taken to Kent County Memorial Hospital as a precaution, WJAR reports.

“Everyone is so lucky that no one died here today,” an eyewitness told WJAR.

Everyone at Sam's Inn had to be evacuated and the restaurant remains closed, WJAR reports.

Rhode Island Energy crews headed out to repair the burst gas line, which required cutting open a large portion of Yates Road.

It is unclear whether the Lexus driver will face charges. Police have not provided any information about why she struck so many vehicles.
