Man charged with drug offenses after hitting state police cruiser, brawling with officers: officials – NBC Connecticut

State police said they arrested a 34-year-old Killingworth man and found drugs after the suspect, fleeing from police, struck a state police patrol car and scuffled with a trooper who took him into custody.

State police responded to Route 2 near Exit 10 in Glastonbury shortly before 1:30 a.m. Friday for a report of a silver Cadillac Deville stopped in the left lane and the driver fleeing through a construction zone, state police said.

When police attempted to stop the driver, he continued east on Route 2.

Another police officer who saw the car followed it and coordinated with the other officers to stop the Cadillac.

As state police attempted to corral the car on Old Hartford Road in Hebron, the driver intentionally rammed a patrol car, disabling both the patrol car and the Cadillac, state police said.

The suspect then ran and fought with the police officer who arrested him, state police said.

Additional police officers responded and arrested the suspect.

When state police searched him, they found drug paraphernalia and narcotics on him, and in the car they found narcotics, packaging material, cutting agents and a scale, a press release said.

According to state police, neither police officers nor construction workers were injured.

They said the driver also appeared to be impaired.

  • Crystal Meth – 11.8 grams (2 separate bags)
