13-year-old middle school student on Long Island arrested for possession of brass knuckles

LAKE RONKONKOMA, NY (PIX11) — A 13-year-old boy was arrested at a local Long Island middle school for carrying brass knuckles, Suffolk County police announced Friday.

Police said the boy, a student at Samoset Middle School in Lake Ronkonkoma, was stopped by a school employee at 1 p.m. and asked to empty his bag. The teen was stopped because of another incident that led to the search, authorities said.

Officers arrested the teenager and charged him with fourth-degree illegal possession of a weapon. He will be arraigned in family court at a later date, police said.

It remains unclear what incident may have led to the search of the teenager. Due to his age, his name has not been released.
