Teen driver injured in rollover crash in Grainger County, THP says

GRAINGER COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) – Multiple emergency crews responded to a crash in Grainger County Saturday afternoon.

According to a preliminary report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, emergency crews were called to the accident on Lakeshore Drive at Sam Heim Road shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday.

According to THP, a 17-year-old was driving a Ford Expedition southbound on Lakeshore Drive and attempted to make a turn but then went off the right side of the road.

The car then hit a tree, rolled over and finally came to a stop, the report said.

The teen was injured but was wearing a seatbelt. THP said no charges will be filed in the accident.

The Rutledge Volunteer Fire Department and the Grainger County Sheriff's Office also responded to the accident.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident and the extent of the teenager's injuries is unknown.
