I-45 closed at Simpson Stuart Road in Dallas after fatal accident

DALLAS – Four people were killed in a multi-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon that closed I-45 at Simpson Stuart Road in Dallas.

According to Dallas police, officers responded to the crash in the 9500 block of I-45 northbound around 1 p.m.

Police said the preliminary investigation indicates a car was traveling north on the highway when it collided with a second car. This caused the first car to cross the median and enter southbound traffic, striking two vehicles in the southbound lanes before hitting the guardrail and rolling over.

According to police, three passengers in the first vehicle died at the scene. Both drivers of the southbound vehicles were taken to hospital, where one of them died.

Police said the condition of the other driver in the southbound lanes was unknown.

Dallas police said it is an ongoing investigation.
