Tennessee breaks several program records with its dominant victory over Kent State

Tennessee broke three program records in its dominant 71-0 victory over Kent State.

Tennessee made a historic return to Neyland in its Week 3 game against Kent State, scoring 71 points and breaking several program records in a dominant win over the Golden Flashes. All phases of the game were on full throttle, and Tennessee's offense eclipsed the 50-point mark for the third straight game for the first time in program history. The offense was led by SEC rushing leader Dylan Sampson, who ran for 101 yards and four touchdowns, setting the school record for most rushing touchdowns in a single game – despite only playing one half.

Tennessee's defense continued its dominance, not allowing a touchdown in 16 quarters. Overall, the Volunteers set new program records for points in a quarter (37), points in a half (65), total points in a game (71) and total offensive yards (740).

The Volunteers now turn their attention to conference play as they head to Memorial Stadium to face the Oklahoma Sooners. Oklahoma is coming off a dominant 51-3 win over Temple, but has never played an opponent as strong as Tennessee, who is improving week to week. The week four game will be the Sooners' first SEC conference game since they officially joined the conference on July 1.
