Man shot in parking lot near Arundel Mills cinema, police said

A man was shot and killed Friday night in a parking lot near the Arundel Mills Mall movie theater complex in Hanover, Anne Arundel County police said.

A news release on Saturday did not name the victim and did not announce any arrests. Police said preliminary investigations indicate the incident was a “targeted event,” meaning there was no danger to the public.

Police responded to a report of a shooting around 9:30 p.m. Friday and arrived about two minutes after the initial call. They were directed to the “rear parking lot near the movie theater complex,” a news release said, where they found a man with a gunshot wound to the upper torso.

He was taken to hospital but died on the way there, the press release said.
