F2: Richard Verschoor wins the main race in Baku after red flag following start accident

The top three all made their stops on the same lap, but unfortunately the Alpine Academy rider was slower than his direct competitors and finished behind Verschoor and Antonelli.

An undercut attempt by title contender Zane Maloney seemed to have effectively put him in second place ahead of the Mercedes Junior Team driver.

However, a braking error at Turn 3 sent him wide into the corner and a slight contact between the two caused Maloney to spin, dropping further back and allowing Martins to overtake Antonelli and get back into second place.

In the final laps, the ART driver chased Verschoor and reduced his lead from three seconds to just 1.1 seconds. However, an accident by newcomer Gabriele Minì towards the end of the race meant that the shortened main race was neutralized by a safety car and Verschoor was able to confidently cross the finish line and take the win.

Gabriel Bortoleto finished the race in fourth place and took the lead in the drivers' standings, as Isack Hadjar remained pointless throughout the entire Baku weekend.
