Emmys 2024: How to watch the ceremony live

For the second time in a calendar year, the best TV networks will be honored at the 2024 Emmys, where FX’s critically acclaimed new drama Shogun leads the field with an astonishing 25 nominations, including Best Drama Series. Other top contenders of the evening include the (controversial) comedic The bear with 23 nominations, Hulu’s Only murders in the building at 21, HBO's True Detective: Nightland at 19, and Netflix's The Crown with a respectable 18.

ABC, which will broadcast the 76th annual ceremony live on Sunday, September 15, has invited the father-son duo Eugen And Daniel Levy from Schitt’s Creek Fame to host the show. “We've been asked before and for some reason it didn't feel like the right time,” said Dan The Los Angeles Times before the Primetime Emmys. “Then we were asked again this year and I think we ran out of reasons not to do it. It seemed like a fun little challenge – not small, actually pretty big.”

Eugene added: “We could easily snooze into the fall without doing it and watch it on TV. But I guess something was pulling at us – we could do it, it could be fun. We opened the SAG Awards a couple of years ago and had a blast doing it and it went really well; it seemed to work and we got a taste of what it was like. So we said yes.”

Just don't expect the Levys to hit too hard in their opening monologue. “People are pretty excited, from what I've heard, that we're not tough comedians,” Dan said, “that there's a certain warmth in the room.” Eugene, whose Apple TV+ series The reluctant traveler was nominated this year, said: “It's always funny to me when jokes are made at the expense of the nominees – they've put in a lot of effort, it really is their night and you have to have enough respect for the awards ceremony itself. Otherwise, why are we here? You want it to be funny, but it's perhaps a kinder, gentler approach.”
