Georgia teenager charged with bomb threat against Ormond Beach students

An 18-year-old from Georgia was arrested in connection with bomb threats made against certain students at Ormond Beach Middle School, police said. Ormond Beach police arrested Kaveon Jah'quez after he turned himself in on a warrant. The investigation began on Sept. 7, 2024, and police determined that while threats had been made, there was no credible or imminent danger to the school or its students. OBPD remained in contact with Jah'quez and other relevant parties throughout the investigation. Ormond Beach officials said Jah'quez's Georgia residency was a key factor in the investigation, which lasted several days. Ormond Beach Police Chief Jesse Godfrey stresses the importance of parental involvement in ensuring children's online safety. “Staying vigilant is key to keeping our community safe,” Godfrey said. “If you see or hear anything suspicious, report it to local authorities immediately. Early intervention can prevent potentially dangerous situations.”
