What happened to Tank Dell? Details on offseason shooting incident that injured Texans WR

The Houston Texans offense is loaded with young talent. Quarterback CJ Stroud is the focal point, but Nico Collins and Tank Dell are developing into a consistent wide receiver duo that Stroud can rely on.

Dell was selected in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft. It's fitting that he ended up with the Texans, as they likely got to know him well when he played college football in Houston. As a rookie, Dell played in 11 games and his season was ended early after he broke his leg in Week 13. He finished the season with 709 yards and seven touchdowns on 47 receptions.

Dell's surgery was successful and he focused on preparing for the 2024 season. However, in April, his offseason plans were disrupted. We recap what happened to the Houston wide receiver.

What happened to Tank Dell?

Dell was at a Florida nightclub on April 27. An altercation broke out and the Houston wide receiver was just a bystander, but still suffered a “minor injury” in a shooting. Dell was taken to the hospital but was quickly released and made a full recovery.

Dell was shot in the leg, but it doesn't sound like he had to undergo any major surgery during his recovery. He was able to return to practice without any restrictions three weeks later. A healthy Dell gives Houston one of the better wide receivers in the NFL, along with Stefon Diggs and Collins.
