Live updates on Tottenham vs Arsenal! – From Joe Prince-Wright at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Halftime: Tottenham 0:0 Arsenal

Seven yellow cards in a heated first half, both teams had great chances but Raya and Vicario made good saves and the final pass was just off target. That's perfect for the second half. Tottenham will be very happy with that.

Johnson shoots over the goal, Spurs fight through

Tottenham again tries to win the ball back in midfield, but Brennan Johnson shoots over the bar. This sequence sums up the first half pretty well. Combative and tense.

Scuffle breaks out, Timber and Vicario caution

The first brawl of the North London derby breaks out when Timber Porro is caught and cautioned. Vicario is then cautioned for his reaction to Timber when the goal boiled over and players from both teams jumped in. Things are starting to get really heated. Just before half-time, the temperature in the stadium is raised several notches.

Solanke, so close!

Dominic Solanke's header goes just wide of the post. David Raya pounced on it and thought the ball was in. Brilliant cross from Maddison who plays Solanke in. Tottenham are running over Arsenal whenever they can. Saliba is doing his best to keep the Gunners at bay.

Now it goes back and forth a lot, without real control

Spurs may have more possession, but nobody is really in control of the game. It is very hectic and neck and neck, with Arsenal obviously missing the midfield duo of Rice and Odegaard to calm things down and set the tempo.

Vicario saves well, Martinelli misses a great chance

Vicario makes a great save from Havertz, the ball bounces up and hits Romero's arm which Vicario saves. The ball was very close to Romero's body. Martinelli is then played in on the left and cuts inside but only shoots a weak ball straight at Vicario.

Oh, Dominic Solanke lets Arsenal off the hook

Oh wow. Ben White and Arsenal really got away with it. They pass the ball nicely at the back but Son intercepts it and Spurs have it on the edge of the Arsenal box. Solanke lets the ball go for too long though and Saliba wins it back.

Save yourself from Raya!

That's a good save from David Raya. After his corner is half cleared, Kulusevski delivers a beautiful cross that narrowly misses Porro and Raya parries it away. Tottenham have started well.

The first big chance for Spurs

Solanke does well by cutting forward down the left and Son's back pass is headed towards goal by Kulusevski but Raya is able to parry.

We are ready to go!

This atmosphere is special. There's nothing like the optimism at the start of the season to get the mood going, with both teams feeling they have a chance to win the game. That should make for a great game. Listen to the noise here.

Perfect derby day with excitement in the air

There is a real sense of nervousness in the air here at Tottenham. The home fans believe they have a chance of winning despite Arsenal's absence, but it will still be a big challenge for Spurs. They will give it their all from the start, which should make for a very entertaining game. The atmosphere is really building now, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.

The team news is here!

Welcome to sunny north London for a great derby! The team news is in and Tottenham have named a very attacking line-up, with Bentancur as the only true midfielder and Maddison, Kulusevski, Johnson, Son and Solanke in the starting XI. Spurs have a very strong bench with Werner, Dragusin, Gray, Bergvall, Sarr and Odebert in the squad.

As expected, Arsenal are without captain Martin Odegaard through injury. Jorginho comes on as a substitute and Gabriel Martinelli comes in for the suspended Declan Rice. This means Trossard will play a central role, Jorginho will start alongside Partey in midfield and Martinelli on the left. Arsenal have a lot of young players on the bench due to their injury problems. Kabia, Kacurri, Lewis-Skelly, Nwaneri and Edford Heaven are all in the squad. I can confirm that Kacurri is an absolute unit as he warms up here in the stadium in front of me with the other substitutes, including Raheem Sterling.

Tottenham lineup

Vicario; Porro, Van de Ven, Romero, Udogie; Kulusevski, Bentancur, Maddison; Johnson, Solanke, son

Arsenal lineup

Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Timber; Partey, Georginho; Saka, Trossard, Martinelli; Havertz

Tottenham in focus, team news

If all four players struggling with injuries are fit, it's a massive opportunity for Tottenham. Solanke gives them a focal point in attack and looks to fit well into their system. And we all know how important Van de Ven is, with his pace in defence allowing Spurs to play their incredibly high back line. Bissouma alongside Sarr in midfield is perfect for the frenetic pace of the north London derby and Postecoglou will feel this is the perfect time for his side to make a statement early in the season as they aim to finish in the top four. Spurs have created so many chances in their first three games but failed to take them, slipping up against Leicester and Newcastle. They will need to play composed this Sunday against a normally stingy Arsenal.

Arsenal Focus, Team News

With Rice definitely out and Odegaard very likely, the big selection dilemma is who will start in central midfield. It looks like Thomas Partey and Jorginho will get the nod, with perhaps Leandro Trossard dropping into the central ten position behind Kai Havertz and Gabriel Martinelli on the left wing. Or, of course, new signing Raheem Sterling could make his debut and become an instant hero. These moves would cause the least disruption to the team. Jurrien Timber could also start alongside Partey and Jorginho could start higher up, with Trossard starting on the left. Despite their injury problems, Arsenal still have a strong squad and this will be pushed to its limits next week with big away games against Tottenham, Atalanta and Man City looming.

Out: Takehiro Tomiyasu (knee), Kieran Tierney (thigh), Martin Ödegaard (ankle), Mikel Merino (shoulder)Declan Rice (suspended), Riccardo Calafiori (veal)

Preview: Tottenham vs Arsenal

Spurs have picked up four points from their first three games, while Ange Postecoglou's side have struggled with efficiency, picking up a draw and a Defeat against Newcastle this season. Heung-min Son remains their most important player but the likes of James Maddison, Brennan Johnson and Timo Werner really need to step up, while Dominic Solanke's injury has hampered his start at Spurs. Influential centre-back Micky van de Ven is also battling for fitness, while Postecoglou will be hoping Spurs are relentless and composed and can make the most of Arsenal's injury.

Arsenal have a lot of injuries and absences to worry about ahead of this big game. Captain Martin Odegaard picked up an ankle injury during the international break and could miss the Champions League opener against Atalanta and the away game against Manchester City next Sunday (September 22). Declan Rice is out through suspension and new signing Mikel Merino is out with a shoulder injury. New signing Riccardo Calafiori is also battling for fitness after picking up an injury during the international break. Arsenal have seven points from nine to start the season but lost focus in a wild draw with Brighton before the break. They will need to keep their cool in the cauldron of the NLD this weekend.
