Family members and friends of murdered mother Karen Miles from Missouri City gathered for the vigil

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – The family and friends of murdered mother Karen Miles of Missouri City gathered for prayer on Saturday evening.

The 61-year-old's body was discovered on Monday in a dense wooded area near Blue Ridge Drive in Missouri City.

“What evil can one human being do to another human being?” asked Miles' sister Patricia Evans. “She was shot in the back of the head, like an execution,” Evans said.

The last time anyone heard from Miles was on the evening of August 21. She didn't show up for work the next morning.

“It was like a nightmare. I thought I would wake up and Karen would be there,” Evans said.

Davante Clark, 29, was charged with aggravated robbery and capital crimes.

According to the indictment, Clark Miles is said to have threatened with a weapon in the parking lot of her senior citizens' complex in the 10,000 block of the South Sam Houston Parkway with a weapon.

On August 28th, Clark was arrested in Pearland.

“For me, there is no hope for justice. There is a demand for justice. I will not be silent,” said Miles' girlfriend Danessa Bolling.

According to charging documents, Clark is a person of interest in at least one other disappearance in which the victim's car was stolen.

“One of those two families reached out to me because they feel that (Miles) would still be with us if this thing hadn't happened,” Evans said.
