Seattle Seahawks promote two players from the training squad

The Seattle Seahawks have signed rookie running back George Holani and second-year tackle McClendon Curtis from the practice squad ahead of their Week 2 game against the New England Patriots on Sunday.

Seahawks injury report: Walker questionable, two players out against Patriots

Both players give Seattle additional depth at injury-hit positions. Running back Kenneth Walker III (oblique) and right tackle George Fant (knee) are questionable after they sustained injuries in the Seahawks' season-opening win over the Denver Broncos last Sunday.

Holani, an undrafted rookie out of Boise State, had a strong preseason while battling second-year pro Kenny McIntosh for the third running back spot. Holani rushed for 66 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries in Seattle's three preseason games, while also catching three passes for 15 yards and making two tackles on special teams. He was released during the 53-man roster reduction but was signed to the practice squad.

Curtis, who went undrafted out of FCS-level Chattanooga in 2023, signed with the Seahawks last year and spent most of the season on their active roster, appearing in two games on their field goal unit. He was in the running for a roster spot this year during training camp and the preseason, but was released during roster reductions before being signed to the practice squad.

Walker was eliminated in the fourth quarter against the Broncos after rushing for 103 yards on 20 carries and scoring a touchdown.

Fant, a ninth-year veteran, was injured late in the first quarter against Denver. Fant started in place of third-year pro Abraham Lucas, who is on the physically unable to play list as he continues to recover from knee surgery in January. Fant was replaced by third-year right tackle Stone Forsythe, who started eight times last season and filled in due to injuries.
