Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Detroit Lions

5. DAVIS AGAINST HIS OLD CLUB

Veteran cornerback Carlton Davis III admitted he was pretty shocked in March when the Bucs told him he was being traded to Detroit. It took him a while to adjust, but Davis has since fallen in love with the culture here and is part of a young, talented roster with Super Bowl aspirations.

Today is his first chance to play against the team he spent his first six years in the league with, and despite his calm and collected demeanor, Davis comes into this game with a little extra motivation.

“He's normally a quiet guy, but he gave the receivers the best introduction I've ever heard a DB give in my entire coaching career, and that's saying something,” Glenn said this week of Davis' presentation to the defense about the Bucs' talented players.

“The way he expressed what these guys are like, how they act, how they operate, was pretty amazing yesterday. I wish I had just recorded that for myself so I could show other players, the way you do it. But he's got a little something in him and he's not going to show it, that's just the way he is, but you can tell it's Bucs week for him.”

Davis said he still has many friends in Tampa Bay and great respect for the players, but that ends at 1 p.m.

“They're just the next opponent on our path and it's a long road,” he said this week. “I've got a lot of love for those guys over there, but Sunday is football, man. There's no friends on the field and there won't be any on Sunday.”
