A Bridgeville man faces felony charges after allegedly threatening to shoot school staff at the Sussex Consortium in Lewes on Friday. The incident occurred on Sept. 13 when 20-year-old Michael Jones, a special education student, reportedly caused a significant disturbance.

According to the Delaware State Police, officers were called at 12:28 p.m. after reports that Jones was damaging school property and making threats of violence. Jones allegedly caused $1,500 in damage before threatening to shoot staff. The school was immediately placed on lockdown.

Police arrested Jones without incident and no firearms were found. No injuries were reported in the incident. Jones was charged with terroristic threats, criminal damage and disturbing the peace.

Jones was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Second Court and released on bail. After the situation was resolved, the school resumed normal operations.

The incident is still being investigated, but authorities stress that there is no immediate danger to students and staff.
