NFL players inactive in Week 2: AJ Brown, Christian McCaffrey and Jordan Love out

The Philadelphia Eagles will have to play their first game of the season in the USA without their star wide receiver. In the final injury report before their game against the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football, the Eagles downgraded Brown from “questionable” to “unavailable” due to a thigh problem.

Head coach Nick Sirianni told the media on Saturday that the injury occurred during Friday's practice. Brown had a tight thigh and the Eagles decided to stop practice as a precaution.

This will be the first game Brown misses since joining the Eagles in 2022. In Week 1, he had 119 yards on five catches with one touchdown (a magical 60-plus yard catch from QB Jalen Hurts).

In Week 2 of the 2024 season, Christian McCaffrey will face another week off for the San Francisco 49ers.

After missing last week's win over the New York Jets, McCaffrey was placed on the injured list, according to multiple media reports. McCaffrey will now miss at least the next four games while he recovers from Achilles tendinitis and a calf strain.

On Friday, McCaffrey was ruled out for San Francisco's second game against the Minnesota Vikings due to his injuries. In a press conference the same day, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters they were considering placing him on the injured list, adding that McCaffrey had been in a lot of pain during practice on Thursday.

“It is on and off, but with [Thursday] “I'm in a lot of pain, that's something we'll talk about in the next 24 hours,” Shanahan said.

McCaffrey cannot return to the 49ers until Week 6 against the Seattle Seahawks at the earliest.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love suffered a sprained medial collateral ligament in the Week 1 loss to the Eagles and was therefore unavailable for the Week 2 game against the Indianapolis Colts.
