1 person arrested after shooting at large crowd in Goshen shopping center parking lot

GOSHEN, Ind. (WNDU) – A large gathering of people in the parking lot of a Goshen shopping center was marred last night when shots were fired, according to police.

Officers said they were conducting a traffic stop in the 200 block of Chicago Avenue around 8 p.m. when shots were fired on the north side of the Trinity Square parking lot.

They said they ran to where the shots were heard and witnesses pointed out a man in the crowd who allegedly had a gun.

The man is 24-year-old Juan Manuel Luevano Jr. He was arrested and taken to the Elkhart County Jail.

Witnesses also reported seeing another suspect dressed all in black and wearing a face mask leaving the area before officers arrived, but he was not identified.

A 20-year-old woman suffered a non-life-threatening leg injury and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
