Man arrested in Maine for drug trafficking and tampering with a weapon

A 29-year-old man was arrested in Palmyra on suspicion of serious drug trafficking and possession of a tampered weapon.

Charged with drug trafficking, tampered weapons and possession

Kasiem Smith of Worcester, Massachusetts, was charged with aggravated drug trafficking, criminal impersonation (altered weapon, abraded serial numbers), and illegal drug possession.

Search warrant

The Somerset County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division executed a search warrant on a Palmyra residence on August 29.

Drugs and weapons worth $100,000 seized

The officers seized about 1,000 grams of cocaine and a large quantity of fentanyl. The street value of the drugs is just under $100,000.

Detention and prison

Smith was taken into custody and transported to the Somerset County Jail.
