37-year-old shot dead in Hephzibah; woman arrested, charged with murder

HEPHZIBAH, Georgia (WJBF) – The Richmond County Coroner’s Office responded to Wellstar/MCG regarding a firearm death Saturday evening.

Both the Richmond County Sheriff's Office and Hephzibah Police responded to the shooting in the 2400 block of Carroll Drive.

Upon arrival, authorities found an adult man and an adult woman, both of whom had been shot at least once.

The victims were taken to the hospital where the male victim, identified as 37-year-old Eric Council, succumbed to his injuries.

At 11:44 p.m. his death was confirmed.

Constance Jenkins, 38, of Hephzibah was arrested and charged with murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

An autopsy is scheduled.
