Motor vehicle officer involved in an accident on Friday has died | State

LINCOLN PARK, Mich. (WJRT) – A Michigan State Police motor vehicle officer involved in a crash Friday morning has died.

The Fraternal Order of Police State Lodge of Michigan announced that motor vehicle officer Daniel Kerstetter succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.

The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. Friday on northbound I-75 near Dixie Highway in Lincoln Park.

According to the Michigan State Police, preliminary investigations indicate that a Ford Explorer struck the median wall before continuing on the highway, then rammed the patrol vehicle and pushed it into the rear of the semi-trailer.


The MCO was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident and was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Explorer died. The driver of the semi-trailer was uninjured.
