Former GA prison guard allegedly gave cell phones and e-cigarettes to inmates in prison – WSB-TV Channel 2

CRAWFORD COUNTY, Ga. – A Georgia prison guard is out of action after supplying inmates with contraband, according to the sheriff's office.

On September 4, the Crawford County Sheriff's Office was notified that a jail guard was handing out cell phones to inmates and that they were smoking e-cigarettes in the jail.

On the same day, detention officer Octavious Deshaun King was placed on leave with pay.

Crawford investigators launched a criminal investigation into the case.

During the investigation, officials determined there was reasonable suspicion that King had committed a crime. King was fired.

King turned himself in to the Crawford County Sheriff's Office on Friday.

He was accused of breaching an oath in an officer case and of providing alcohol, drugs and weapons to inmates without the warden's consent.

At his first hearing, King appeared on bail set at $10,000.
