Five people arrested after they shot at undercover officers and started a chase, police said

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – Five suspects were arrested after Cincinnati police said they shot at undercover officers and then led police on a chase.

According to police chief Teresa Theetge, no officers were injured.

It all started on Thursday shortly before 8 p.m. in Winton Terrace.

Fourth Precinct civilian investigators were investigating a vehicle in the 4600 block of Este Avenue when passengers fired shots at them and the vehicle drove off, the chief said.

The pursuit began on nearby Center Hill Avenue and continued with the fleeing vehicle increasing speed as it turned onto North Bend Road in Mt. Airy.

From there the pursuit led through Green Township and Colerain Township.

All five people were arrested near Whiteacres Drive and Rockacres Court, where the chase ended around 9:30 p.m., the police chief said at an evening press conference.

“Two or three were in the vehicle and were arrested,” she said. “Others fled on foot and were later arrested. At one point, stop sticks were deployed, their tires were flattened, but they refused to stop.”

The chief said she had no information about the suspects that she could disclose, so it was not immediately clear whether they were juveniles or adults.

As of 4 a.m. Friday morning, no suspect in this incident had been booked into the Hamilton County Jail, jail officials told FOX19 NOW.
