Boomer Esiason questions Terry Bradshaw's faux pas

Terry Bradshaw may be a Hall of Fame quarterback and sportscaster, but highlight reeling has never been his strong suit, and Boomer Esiason just found that out.

For the first time ever, Esiason had time to flip through the channels on Sunday afternoons. In April, CBS decided to fire Esiason and Phil Simms. The NFL today by not renewing their contracts, ending an impressive 22-year run at CBS for the former NFL MVP. But without having to be on the CBS set on Sunday afternoon, Esiason was able to watch his former competitors at Fox at work, especially Terry Bradshaw.

On Monday morning, a listener called into Esiason's radio show with co-host Gregg Giannotti on WFAN to criticize Bradshaw for stumbling through his highlights package on Fox. Giannotti was quick to note that this has been going on for a quarter century, but is new to Esiason.

“I've played against them for the last 22 years, I haven't seen much of their show,” Esiason admitted. “Of course I watch them during the Super Bowl or when there's a playoff game, but yesterday was a little unsettling. I was worried about him. Was that it?”

Giannotti noted that Bradshaw's ability to score a highlights package may have waned in recent years, but she was never particularly good to begin with, leading Esiason to wonder if that was simply “her thing.”

“Yes, there is,” Giannotti said, laughing. “At CBS they made a small change, but at Fox, the pre-season coverage is like going to the natural history museum.”

Bradshaw's struggle through highlights was an issue for Bradshaw on Fox last year, and it was the case again this Sunday afternoon when the 76-year-old NFL studio analyst on Fox missed the opportunity to say “Chigoziem Okonkwo” and confused Tyreek Hill with Stefon Diggs.
