Sean McVay tells what he appreciates about Jimmy Garoppolo

The backup quarterback is often a forgotten figure in football. He is a shadow in the public sphere and is usually not highly regarded by fans and the media, but his contribution to the success of the starter and therefore the team cannot be underestimated.

This is the opinion expressed by Sean McVay when asked if he noticed anything different about Jimmy Garoppolo. McVay had the following to say about his backup QB.

“I think his consistency is something I really appreciate,” McVay said. “He's so focused. He's a skilled player. I think some of the traits I've always admired from afar are the ability to speed it up, he can make quick decisions, he can pull things off quickly. He just has a really nice demeanor. You can see why all of his teammates like him. I'm sure if you get a chance to talk to him, he's a great guy. He's got a lot of experience. He's used it the right way, but he also has a refreshing humility about him, so he can just be one of the guys. I've loved being around Jimmy, and it's nice to have him back in the building.”

Garoppolo's suspension expires after Week 2. He will then take over as the Rams' backup, a role that has brought him much success in the past. Garoppolo has spent time with the Patriots, 49ers and Raiders in his 12-year NFL career. His four playoff victories rank him eighth among active quarterbacks.

Ironically, he is tied with Matthew Stafford and Brock Purdy in this statistical category.
