Massive tight end of the Pittsburgh Steelers scores first touchdown against the Broncos

DENVER— Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Darnell Washington scored his first touchdown on Sunday against the Denver Broncos. On the third attempt, Steelers quarterback Justin Fields threw a back shoulder fade to Washington, who overcame Broncos safety PJ Locke for a five-yard touchdown.

Locke is only 6'1″ while Washington is only 6'1″, so the Steelers have a size advantage in the red zone. Washington is listed at 280 pounds, but he could easily be heavier.

This Steelers touchdown drive covered 12 plays and 78 yards and took 7:31 of the first quarter. For offensive coordinator Arthur Smith and the Steelers, it's a continuation of what happened in Week 1, when the Steelers had the ball for more than 36 minutes in their 18-10 win at Atlanta.

Washington caught just seven passes in his rookie season. He had one reception for five yards against the Falcons. The second-year player from Georgia played the most snaps of any Steelers tight end last week, with 48 snaps.
