Trevor Megill gives up the lead late

Trevor Megill, pitching for the fourth time in six days, was a little rusty in the eighth inning, costing him the win. Megill walked Corbin Carroll on four pitches to start the inning while trying to protect a one-run lead, and Carroll got to the point after stealing second base, advancing to third base on an 0-2 wild pitch and scoring on a sacrifice fly.

Brewers storm back

From a 0-5 deficit to a lead, the Brewers turned the game on its head in a very short time.

Willy Adames hit a two-out, two-run double down the left field line against reliever Kevin Ginkel in the sixth inning to give the Brewers a 7-5 lead, capping a furious comeback in the middle innings.

Eric Haase, no stranger to hitting in Arizona after being the Brewers' best hitter in spring training, tied the game earlier in the sixth inning with a two-run homer to left, a hit that also came with two outs.

Brice Turang followed Haase by hitting a single to left for his third hit of the day, then Jackson Chourio managed an infield hit to get Adames to bat and allow the Brewers shortstop to extend his National League lead in runs batted in.

An RBI single by Sal Frelick in the seventh inning gave the Brewers a three-run lead, but Arizona rallied back to make it two in the bottom half on an RBI single by Geraldo Perdomo and a subsequent double by Randal Grichuk off Aaron Ashby.

Command collapse seals DL Hall

Brewers starter DL Hall seemed to have settled in a bit after a shaky first inning until he lost control in the third. Hall retired the first two batters of the inning before loading the bases with walks to Josh Bell, hitting to Jake McCarthy and walking to Geraldo Perdomo.

That brought Pavin Smith to the field, who extended Arizona's lead to 5-0 with a bases-empty double to right. The pitch had two strikes and was caught too far from the base.

Hall's abbreviated return to the rotation did not go well; the left-hander did not throw a single ball until the fourth inning, allowing five runs on five hits, three walks and one hit batter, and he was in the zone on just 43% of his throws.

Hall had not scored a single run in his last three 12 2/3 innings appearances. The last two times Hall was on the mound, he was out of the bullpen, a role he will return to after Sunday's start and one he likely won't play again in the playoffs.

Festival of singles in the first inning

After Gallen struck out two Brewers runners early in the first inning, his offense took the lead with four consecutive singles against Hall.

Hall made the first out in the bottom of the first inning before allowing base hits to Corbin Carroll, Christian Walker, Eugenio Suarez and Bell that gave the Diamondbacks a 2-0 lead.

Jackson Chourio hits his 21st home run

Chourio officially has more home runs than years lived.

With two players on base in the fifth inning, Chourio got a 1-2 curveball from Zac Gallen at his knees and threw it into left field with an exit velocity of 105.5 mph. The 20-year-old now has 21 home runs and 20 steals.

The Brewers came within 5-3 thanks to Chourio's swing.

The home run was Chourio's 69th 100-plus mph home run since July 1, putting him in the top 10 in all of baseball and on par with Yankees hitter Aaron Judge.
