Heat, humidity and chance of rain at the Houston Texans' home opener

Texans Tailgate Prediction:

HOUSTON – For the home opener, the Texans will kick off in style with Sunday Night Football! Tailgating for the game will be warm in the parking lots. Expect temperatures to be in the 90s as you set up tailgating, and with the high humidity it will feel like triple digits. Temperatures will be in the 90s by kickoff. If you can't make it to NRG on Sunday, you can watch the Texans on KPRC for Sunday Night Football!

Hot and dry, before the probability of rain increases in the evening hours.
It will be dry at the end, but there is a chance of rain from kick-off.

There is a slight chance of rain and storms. A few light showers are possible early in the morning, and then showers and thunderstorms develop north of I-10 and west of 45 North on Sunday evening. The rain will move southeast into Harris County, so we can't rule out a few drops of rain by the time the game starts. There will be rain along the coast by the end of the game.

Dry for Houston.
Showers and thunderstorms are expected in Houston.
The probability of rain shifts southeast towards the coast.

On the trail of the tropics:

The tropics are active, as we expect in mid-September, but fortunately there is no danger to the Gulf Coast. Tropical Storm Gordon is 4,000 miles away in the eastern Atlantic and poses no threat to the U.S. at this time. Otherwise, we will be monitoring the area of interest off the Carolinas coast all weekend as it may attempt to spawn a storm.

The storm will stay far away from the USA

There is also a region of medium probability of development near the Carolinas. This does not pose a threat to the Gulf Coast.

A tropical system could develop along the east coast later this week.
10-day forecast:

After Sunday, only a few showers with a sea breeze are possible. Otherwise it will remain dry. Maximum temperatures will be 30 degrees, but the minimum temperatures in the morning will be a pleasant 24 degrees!

The heat persists throughout the 10-day period.
