Teenager lost control of car – NBC 6 South Florida

Three people, including a teenager, are still hospitalized after a serious head-on collision in Deerfield Beach on Friday evening.

Authorities said it happened around 9 p.m. in the area of ​​SW 10th Street and Waterways Boulevard.

The Broward Sheriff's Office said a 17-year-old boy from Plantation was driving a Toyota Corolla eastbound on Southwest 10th Street when he lost control, crossed the median and collided head-on with a Ford Fusion in the westbound lane.

The driver of the Ford, Isaac Knowles, is in critical condition. The driver of the Toyota and another passenger were also taken to hospital.

A video shows the wreckage: two cars with shattered windows, completely crushed and disfigured.

Rescue workers had to use rescue shears to safely remove the victims from the wreckage. One of the victims had to have a leg amputated, but authorities did not disclose whose leg it was.

The crash remains under investigation.

The Broward Sheriff's Fire Department shared this video of an accident in Deerfield Beach that left three people hospitalized.

The three people involved were treated at the scene and taken to Broward Health North, the Broward Sheriff's Fire and Emergency Services Department said.

“The condition of the patients ranges from serious to severe,” the fire department said.

Authorities have closed SW 10th Street during the investigation and cleanup. One driver said he was stuck in traffic for two hours.
