Trump shooting is reminiscent of past assassinations of US politicians

The FBI is investigating another assassination attempt on Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

The incident occurred on Sunday at the Trump International Golf Club West Palm Beach in Florida, where former President Trump was playing golf.

Police officials said the Secret Service saw a man with a rifle in the bushes and fired at the suspected attacker.

The suspect fled from the bushes and was later arrested on a highway, according to police.

Previous attempt against Trump

In July, Trump was shot by a gunman during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. The FBI called it an attempted murder. The former president suffered an ear injury.

According to the Congressional Research Service, there have been direct attacks on presidents, presidents-elect and candidates on at least 15 separate occasions, five of which resulted in death.

Below is a list of previous attempts on the lives of American heads of state, whether successful or not.
