Authorities investigate murder-suicide in San Antonio apartments

The SAPD is now reporting that a murder-suicide occurred early Sunday at the Dwell at Legacy apartment complex.

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police are investigating a murder-suicide that occurred Sunday at a north side apartment complex.

Investigators did not elaborate on the cause of death of the suspect and victim, but described the suspect as a man in his 30s and the victim as a woman in her late 20s.

It happened Sunday afternoon at the Dwell at Legacy apartment complex on East Sonterra Boulevard.

Investigators said they received a call around 9 a.m. asking them to conduct a “high-risk” welfare check on Jones Maltersberger Road, where the suspect lived. When investigators realized he was not there, they headed to the apartment complex.

SWAT members were called and treated the situation as a standoff. Witnesses reported hearing a loud bang and seeing a drone fly into the apartment where they believed the suspect was.

A SAPD spokesman said they eventually entered the apartment and found the man and woman dead. The spokesman did not say how the man and woman knew each other, but neighbors say they were in a relationship.

Some evacuations took place during the standoff, but no one else was injured. A woman who asked not to be identified told KENS 5 she was scared when she came outside Sunday afternoon and found a heavy police presence.

“It was a little traumatic to see the San Antonio police and the SWAT team. It was just crazy,” she said.
