Woman arrested for attempted murder in Jasper

JASPER, Ind. (WFIE) – Jasper Police officials say a woman is in custody after being accused of attempted murder.

According to a press release, officers were dispatched to the scene at 11:45 a.m. on Sunday after receiving calls about a male suspect with blood on his clothing and a head injury.

According to officials, the male victim was walking near the entrance to the Riverwalk on 15th Street in Jasper.

The victim called 911 and told emergency dispatch that a woman, later identified as Clara Whippo, struck him with a metal object and he suffered a head injury.

The victim was taken to hospital for his injuries.

Officers said they began searching for the suspect in a field northeast of the Riverwalk entrance on 15th Street.

Whippo was eventually found while on the trail by K9 Gator and taken into custody.

She is charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, criminal recklessness, aggravated assault, neglect of an animal and trespassing.

Whippo is being held at the Dubois County Security Center.
