Pulaski County and law enforcement sued over 2021 murder | News

In addition to Pulaski County Sheriff Jimmy Bench, the defendants include Marcus Robison, Brett Parrott, Melayna Pelka, Noah Heltzel, Steven Echelberry, John Dugger and April Bryan.

At issue in the lawsuit is Veasman's status as an inmate of the Pulaski County Jail prior to the murder. The plaintiff's complaint states that Veasman had been lawfully incarcerated on multiple charges since May 2021, but was released on September 14, 2021. This was despite a court order requiring his continued incarceration and contrary to established legal and administrative procedures. Veasman killed Ethington on September 17, 2024, three days after his release, in the 11000 block of State Route MM.

The lawsuit seeks damages for funeral expenses, loss of income and support, and pain and suffering caused by the murder.
