Woman killed in morning crash on Route 44 in Taunton identified

A 24-year-old Massachusetts woman died early Sunday morning when the vehicle she was riding in struck a tractor-trailer on Route 44, authorities confirmed. According to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office, Mallory Humphreys of Taunton was the passenger in a gray 2015 Infiniti that was involved in the crash at about 1:24 a.m. The Infiniti was being driven eastbound by a 27-year-old Fall River man at the time of the crash, which occurred on Route 44 in the area of ​​608 Winthrop St. The driver, who was not named in the prosecutor's statement, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 39-year-old Brockton man, was uninjured. Humphreys was pronounced dead at the scene. The prosecutor's office said the crash is under investigation.
