Man and woman die in suspected murder-suicide on the Far North Side

SAN ANTONIO – A man and a woman were found dead in a Far North Side apartment in what was believed to be a murder-suicide.

According to San Antonio police, the incident began shortly after 9 a.m. Sunday with a high-risk welfare check in the 7900 block of Jones Maltsberger Road. Officers were called to the scene because they initially believed the suspect, a man in his 30s, had a gun. When they arrived, the suspect was nowhere to be found.

During the course of the investigation, officers learned that the suspect was located in the 1800 block of East Sonterra Boulevard. When they arrived, they knocked on the door, but no one answered. The SWAT team was then called and engaged in a standoff with the suspect for several hours. Officers were eventually able to enter the apartment and found both the male suspect and a female victim in her late 20s dead inside the apartment.

Police have not yet released a cause of death and it is unclear whether there is a connection between the man and the woman. The investigation is ongoing.
